I love how the deep, royal purple of natural Amethyst looks when it’s set in hand-polished brass. The brass has this warm, sun-like glow that makes the purple of the stone really “pop.

• Amethyst is the traditional stone for February. It’s been used in jewellery for thousands of years and is believed to bring a sense of peace, clarity, and protection to the person wearing it.
• Amethyst is a solid, durable stone (7 on the Mohs scale), which makes it perfect for a necklace you want to wear every day. Brass is also very sturdy and develops a beautiful character over time

How to care for your pendant

• Brass will naturally darken a little over time, giving it a cool “antique” look. If you prefer that bright golden glow I gave it in the studio, a quick rub with a polishing cloth or a tiny bit of lemon juice will make it shine again

• Amethyst is a beautiful, clear stone, but it can get a bit cloudy if it catches lotions or perfumes. I always suggest putting your necklace on last when you’re getting ready

• If the stone needs a refresh, just use warm, soapy water and a soft cloth to bring back its sparkle

• When you’re not wearing it, keep it in a dry spot to help the brass stay bright for longer
